Install Open Office on Ubuntu 9.04 (command line method)

I want to share this knowledge with you guys, I learned this a month ago from an Ubuntu Forum.Basically this installation process doesn’t involve wizard installation, you need to use Terminal (command line for lynux).

Follow the ff steps:

1. go to the OpenOffice website and download the Linux .deb file.

2.Once you have done that, extract the .deb file, OOo_3.1.1_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz then you’ll see a file called OOO310_m19_native_packed-1_en-US.9420

3. remove the existing version of OpenOffice if you wish with this command: sudo apt-get remove openoffice*.*

4. Copy and paste OOO310_m19_native_packed-1_en-US.9420 onto the desktop then open Terminal and paste this command: sudo dpkg -i ~/Desktop/OOO310_m19_native_packed-1_en-US.9420/DEBS/*.deb

5. Then paste this command: sudo dpkg -i ~/Desktop/OOO310_m19_native_packed-1_en-US.9420/DEBS/desktop-integration/openoffice.org3.1-debian-menus_3.1-9420_all.deb

Lakers back on their game 3-1

Post Game Numbers

45:41 – minutes played by an under-the-weather Kobe Bryant on his way to 31 points.

25 – Turnovers by the Lakers after averaging just 16.6 through the first three games of the season.

6 – just six points from the bench tonight, four by Josh Powell and two from Sasha Vujacic.

5 – steals by Ron Artest to go along with 20 points as he carried the load on both ends early in the fourth quarter.

3 – double-doubles in four games for center Andrew Bynum, 22 points and 10 rebounds in 48:42 minutes played.

Yeah this is the post game numbers of the Lakers-Thunder game last night, story of the night Bryant 31 pts, Bynum 22 points. Yeah the big young Drew is doing his best to fill-in the place of Gasol while being out due to injury.

Analogy: If  Bynum’s performance will be like this for the rest of this season, their big man combination will be :

UNBEATABLE = Bynum + Gasol + Odom

Phoenix Suns are back and they could be a CONTENDER again for winning the championship. Yes, it’s been 4 years since the greatest year of Phoenix Suns. They held the best record in NBA that season with Steve Nash as a new player on the team and at the same time crowned as Most Valuable Player of the year. Starting 2005 I’ve been a Phoenix fan, untill today even though they wasn’t able to reach the championship phase yet. I still believe that this team can be world champions one day.

Here’s an extract from the Phoenix’s official website regarding their game today:

Steve Nash scored 30 points and added eight assists, and the Phoenix Suns used a dominant fourth quarter to beat the Miami Heat 104-96 in a matchup of NBA unbeatens Tuesday night. Amare Stoudemire finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds for Phoenix, which overcame its largest deficit of the season and used a 13-4 run over the middle portion of the fourth to pull away. Jason Richardson scored 10 of his 14 points in the final period for the Suns, who are4-0 for the first time since the 2004-05 season.

raid

A.K.A  “RAID”,  combination of multiple disk drives into an array that results in a capacity, performance, and reliability level exceeding the capabilities of any single large drive. RAID systems are normally made for SERVERS and big systems, can be a big database or big dedicated application.

I can’t expose everything here but I have another resource which you can check out: RAID DATA PROTECTION for Lynux

This is my GoogleWave account, currently I haven’t done anything yet with this because I still don’t know how to use it. Of course I need to read the Complete Guide and watch some videos regarding this or Google Wave Help. There are plenty of resources to look into but of course there’s should be one resource out there which can really help me.
