Upon viewing all google alerts on my mail regarding NBA I saw this article regarding James’ petition for retiring Michael Jordan’s #23 jersey.

If LeBron James gets his way, no NBA player would ever wear Michael Jordan’s No. 23 again.

James, the Cleveland Cavaliers star, recently announced that he was going to change his jersey number from 23 to 6 to honor Jordan.

“I just think what Michael Jordan has done for the game has to be recognized some way soon,” James said. “There would be no LeBron James, no Kobe Bryant, no Dwyane Wade if there wasn’t Michael Jordan first.”

But LeBron didn’t stop there.

“I feel like no NBA player should wear 23,” he said. “I’m starting a petition, and I’ve got to get everyone in the NBA to sign it. Now, if I’m not going to wear No. 23, then nobody else should be able to wear it.”

Jordan has done a lot for the NBA, and he did pave the way as a role model for many of today’s young stars. But the decision to retire his number should be left to each of the NBA’s 30 teams. The Miami Heat, for example, retired Jordan’s number in 2003. The Chicago Bulls have also retired his number. They are the only NBA teams that have retired Jordan’s number.

The NBA doesn’t have any former player’s number retired on a league-wide basis, and it shouldn’t make an exception for Jordan. There are many former NBA stars who would be more deserving. Former Boston Celtics great Bill Russell, for example, has more championship rings (11) than any player in history. Wouldn’t his No. 6 be more worthy of retirement? And Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson said that retiring Jordan’s number might be “a little step on the toes for a guy like Magic (Johnson) or (Larry) Bird.”

A “little” step on the toes? Heck, it would be more like dropping a piano on their toes. And remember this, Jordan briefly changed jerseys during his career, to No. 45. Should the NBA also retire 45?

Admittedly, Jordan is James’ idol, so it’s understandable that he would be campaigning to have No. 23 number retired.

“(Jordan) did so much, it has to be recognized, and not just by putting him in the Hall of Fame.”

But a much better case could be made for a lot of former players.

Indeed MJ’s jersey must be retired, and I also think that other great nba players’ jsersey must also be retired on all nba teams

This is my all star line up for this season, I already voted last week. I guess this lineup is the best suited for this season with Amare and Nash on the roll, teaming up with KB , Pau and Melo = Power Lineup

NEW YORK — Basketball great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is being treated for a rare form of leukemia, and says his prognosis for a full life is encouraging.

The NBA’s all-time leading scorer tells The Associated Press that he was diagnosed last December with chronic myeloid leukemia.

The 62-year-old Abdul-Jabbar says doctors told him he has a “very good” chance of living a full life without making any drastic changes. He is taking an oral medication for the disease.

Abdul-Jabbar says he went for tests last year after getting hot flashes and sweats on a regular basis. He says he’s speaking out now to help raise awareness about the blood cancer.

About 5,000 cases of chronic myeloid leukemia are expected to be diagnosed in the United States this year.

This article is not bad at all, because as mentioned above the NBA Legend can survive this. He can still help the community, specially those who are young and promising players haha

2.Once you have done that, extract the .deb file, OOo_3.1.1_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz then you’ll see a file called OOO310_m19_native_packed-1_en-US.9420

3. remove the existing version of OpenOffice if you wish with this command: sudo apt-get remove openoffice*.*

4. Copy and paste OOO310_m19_native_packed-1_en-US.9420 onto the desktop then open Terminal and paste this command: sudo dpkg -i ~/Desktop/OOO310_m19_native_packed-1_en-US.9420/DEBS/*.deb

5. Then paste this command: sudo dpkg -i ~/Desktop/OOO310_m19_native_packed-1_en-US.9420/DEBS/desktop-integration/openoffice.org3.1-debian-menus_3.1-9420_all.deb

45:41 – minutes played by an under-the-weather Kobe Bryant on his way to 31 points.

25 – Turnovers by the Lakers after averaging just 16.6 through the first three games of the season.

6 – just six points from the bench tonight, four by Josh Powell and two from Sasha Vujacic.

5 – steals by Ron Artest to go along with 20 points as he carried the load on both ends early in the fourth quarter.

3 – double-doubles in four games for center Andrew Bynum, 22 points and 10 rebounds in 48:42 minutes played.

Yeah this is the post game numbers of the Lakers-Thunder game last night, story of the night Bryant 31 pts, Bynum 22 points. Yeah the big young Drew is doing his best to fill-in the place of Gasol while being out due to injury.

Analogy: If  Bynum’s performance will be like this for the rest of this season, their big man combination will be :

UNBEATABLE = Bynum + Gasol + Odom

Phoenix Suns are back and they could be a CONTENDER again for winning the championship. Yes, it’s been 4 years since the greatest year of Phoenix Suns. They held the best record in NBA that season with Steve Nash as a new player on the team and at the same time crowned as Most Valuable Player of the year. Starting 2005 I’ve been a Phoenix fan, untill today even though they wasn’t able to reach the championship phase yet. I still believe that this team can be world champions one day.

Amare Stoudemire finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds for Phoenix, which overcame its largest deficit of the season and used a 13-4 run over the middle portion of the fourth to pull away. Jason Richardson scored 10 of his 14 points in the final period for the Suns, who are4-0 for the first time since the 2004-05 season.
